A five-member delegation of Michigan State University (MSU) and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) visited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) on November 5, 2012.
The delegation members included Professor Eric Winthrop Crawford, Professor Frederik Jan Derksen, Professor Anne Marie Schneller, Professor Jean Beagle Ristaino and Mark Tegenfeldt, agriculture development officer of USAID, Dhaka office.
Professor Dr. Md Giashuddin Miah, treasurer and dean of Graduate Studies of BSMRAU, welcomed the delegates and gave a brief presentation on MS and PhD programmes.
A discussion was also held on providing scholarships to ensure long term training on agricultural research and development at postgraduate levels which will contribute to scientific development in agriculture sector under the Feed the Future (FTF) initiative of the United States.
The capacity development programmes will be supported by the Borlaug Higher Education Agricultural Research and Development (BHERD) programme of USA. The MSU will lead the programmes.
